Bu eserde Bayramî Melâmîlerinden İdrîs-i Muhtefî’nin (ö. 1615) rumuzlarla tekerleyiverdiği meşhûr nutku açıklanmaktadır.

This work offers readers the paraphrase of a well-known Shatiye poem, consisting of many symbols, poetized by İdrîs-i Muhtefi (İdris the disguised) (DoD 1615), from the Sufi Order of Bayramî-Melâmî.

The lexical meaning of ‘shath’ is ‘the excess of something, outpouring, foaming’, which alludes to the disclosure of the secrets within the excessive rapture of the journeyer amidst the stage of Unity (jam)
The written literary forms of these extravagant lyrical expressions, uttered in the state of ecstasy while journeying through the inner spiritual states, are called the ‘shathiye’. This literary genre is a way of expressing the secrets of divine truth since Sufis never tell them obviously without using symbols and metaphors.

The Introduction part explores common symbols and metaphors, have been used by Sufis in prosaic and poetic styles, to be helpful either for this poem or other shathiye examples of the Turkic-Islamic literature.

Paraphrased poem clarifies the journey of the unique-formed being through the realm of attributes, in more specific, the deep knowledge of the existence hidden in the “genuine human” coming into spiritual forms and images through the levels of “Hazrat Five” (levels of the senses of existence) – the realms of divine illustration and imagination which are called as “similitude, formless, dream, imagination”
Sufi masters have dreams becoming visible from the realm of similitude with traces from Divine Truth. Therefore Sufis disguised and versified their inner dreams in a poetic form. Dreams are the realm of meaning and should be interpreted. Fortunately, this work presents a key for intimate seekers who are athirst for gnostic, whispering the secrets of divine truth in our world from the invisible (similitude) realms. Therefore the book “I Dropped by a School” may also be named “The Key to the Poetry of the Realm of Imagination” or “Introduction to the Realm of Similitude” For certain, those are also the keys for the mystery of our creation.

In this Shatiye poem, Gizli İdris whispers us the secrets of beyond realms as a follower of great Sufi poet Yunus Emre who has turned his native language, Turkish, into a language of love and wisdom.

When the moment reached herein, I was born thrice from mother nature
Off-springs in many forms, I let them fly from aerie for to mature

I conceived by the father, spawned four of the mother
Don’t get it a fairy story, nine-footed is my primal father

Body and soul, a dual-faced child was fed by ten matures
In guise of black garment, I displayed from perfect natures

I shouldered the Qaf mount, not to be mystified
Quaffed the engirdling ocean, still why not satisfied

I rose on sixty-archine minaret through the mind of unity
All realms in me for to know the oneness of diversity

I had a hundred bonded tent sewed as a shelter for truth
I bonded me to my Beloved in there for the real birth

I delivered a sermon to the lower self – Pharaoh
Both were recalcitrant; He and his yes-man – Haman

I witnessed a seven-headed dragon, commanding the soul
I wondered why it wasn’t animal shaped for that role

The white beardy hag, as old as the earth, chased after me
She was all tinsel showing this-worldly goods to seduce me

I got seventy two whistles from the bazaar of diversity
My breath gave out an unworldly sound from the Unity

I kicked a ball from orient to occident; what a coloured allegory
Truth of ‘all in one’: rising, setting, and the sun, is not a fairy story

I dropped by a school, teaching seekers ‘the conference of birds’
Moth’s burning love sounds more calling than mosquito’s words

I used the rainbow as a fishing line to cast – the desire
Pulled out a thousand-whiskered fish from ocean – the entire

I saw Noah’s Ark, for the journey of Oneness, getting near
The salvation was graced, from great flood, no more fear

It’s the truth İdris, what you tell with symbols
To be known only by the completed humans
